Chapter 564 - 536: Triumphant Return

The plane landed, and as soon as Sienna Thornton turned on her phone, Simon Forrester called, as if he had timed it perfectly. She took off the U-shaped pillow from around her neck, held the hair tie in her mouth, and with one shoulder holding the phone, she used her fingers as a comb to casually pull her hair back and tie it up.

Hearing some noise on Simon Forrester’s end, she asked, "Are you at the airport? Why is it so noisy?"

"Yes, I’m here. Maybe a celebrity is arriving, there are many journalists around."

The person sitting next to her walked to the aisle to line up to disembark, and Sienna Thornton stood up, stepped back a few paces, and took her duffel bag out of the luggage compartment. She was tall enough to easily reach up and lift the bag down.

The economy class was crowded. While waiting to disembark, a long queue of passengers had formed in the aisle. Not wanting to join the line, Sienna Thornton sat with her bag in her lap and chatted with Simon Forrester.

Upon hearing that Quentin Thorne went to Melinda Linton’s last Saturday, stayed overnight, and moved in with some simple luggage the next day, Sienna Thornton was so shocked she jumped up and stammered for a while before yelling at Simon, "Why didn’t you tell me earlier?!"

"I didn’t want you to be distracted, so I waited until today to tell you."

Sienna couldn’t sit still anymore. She tossed out an "I’ll talk to you when I see you," and hurriedly joined the line to deplane with her bag.

Her colleagues were waiting for her at the jet bridge, and as she approached, they flocked around her like she was a queen, guiding her to the middle.

Maybe it was the days spent waiting for news in Valois, eating well during the day and drinking well at night, living the high life. These people were planning to go to a newly opened upscale nightclub after the upcoming holidays to party.

Sienna was overwhelmed with mundane matters and had no interest in joining them. She grabbed her suitcase and hurried towards the exit.

The others also took their luggage and followed her.

A procession of dozens made its way grandly towards the exit. Less than twenty meters from the exit, Sienna was searching everywhere for Simon Forrester, but instead discovered a bunch of reporters with cameras focused in an unmistakable direction toward them.

She turned her face slightly and asked her colleague walking beside her, "Is there a celebrity on our flight?"

"Nope. If there were a celebrity, my eagle eyes wouldn’t have missed it!" The colleague exaggerated by widening their eyes.

Sienna chuckled and whispered, "Take a good rest these days, we’ll discuss celebration plans when we’re back at work on Monday."

"Got it!"

Just then, one of her sharp-eared subordinates caught up and asked, "Is the boss treating us on Monday to celebrate?"

The person questioning was a new assistant Sienna had hired this year, fresh from graduate school, lively and cheerful, yet meticulous and prudent in work, likable to Sienna, and endearing in personality, despite being quite young.

Remembering that Wendy Jacobs had already been to her house, and the new assistant and other subordinates had not yet been, Sienna thought for a moment, smiled, and said: "Yes, you’re all invited to my place on Monday night."

"Wow!" The subordinates gathered around, "Little Jameson said the boss’s house is a big villa with a soccer field, swimming pool, and an entire floor dedicated to sports!"

As they chattered about what gifts to bring to Sienna’s house on Monday, they were almost at the exit. However, Sienna still hadn’t spotted Simon Forrester, though the reporters continued filming them, clearly directed at them.

Sienna, puzzled, turned her head to glance back, seeing no one and certainly no celebrities.

Lowering her voice, she said to the male colleague walking beside her, "Have you noticed those with cameras have been filming us the whole time?"

As she spoke, the male colleague was already processing the information and walked briskly forward, stopping at the railing, negotiating with those outside it.

Sienna led the others forward, where her male colleague was examining the ID badges of those people. She asked, "What organization are they with?"

Among those people, the leader, appearing to be the team leader, immediately raised his hand to shake hands with Sienna. She glanced at his hand, still keeping hers in her coat pockets.

He said, "We’re from the Department Media Office, sent by Director-General Linton to film."

Hearing this, Sienna glanced at her male colleague, who nodded, and only then did she extend her hand for a brief handshake, smiling, "I see, thanks for your hard work tonight. Have you all eaten?"

Recently, the entire department knew that Director Thorne was the eldest daughter of Dean Thorne. Receiving thanks and well wishes from someone of her status, the journalists who had feared being misunderstood or non-cooperative were flattered.

"Yes, yes, it’s quite convenient to eat at the airport."

The journalist spoke while directing those behind him to finish the shoot, then pulled out a recorder to capture Sienna’s voice, respectfully saying, "Congratulations, Director Thorne, on flawlessly handling another case. This case involves ten times the amount involved in last year’s fastener case, catching the attention of the Minister, even the State Secretary. Do you have anything you’d like to share with us?"

Sienna didn’t look at the camera, instead generously smiling and saying to him: "Everyone worked under high pressure in Valois for over half a month and now just got off a more than ten-hour flight. We’re all tired, and you must be too, waiting here in the cold. Let’s have a proper chat back at the department on Monday."

Upon finishing her words, she smiled as she shook hands with him briefly, then wheeled her suitcase to a side exit to leave.

The camera followed her exit, capturing her embracing and walking hand in hand with a tall, handsome man as they departed the arrivals hall.

.

Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester held hands all the way to the car park. Midway, Simon suddenly tightened his grip on her hand, saying, "Did you shake hands with that male reporter twice?"

Noticing his hint of jealousy, Sienna laughed, steering the topic aside: "Haven’t seen me for half a month, did you miss me?"

Simon didn’t respond to that and lightly tickled her palm, looking serious, "Once should’ve been enough, why did you take the initiative to shake twice? Are you interested in him?"

Laughing uncontrollably, Sienna gently smacked his arm with her hand, "It was just a handshake—I couldn’t bow to him, could I? His rank is below mine, you know."

"You could’ve just walked away, why greet them at all?"

"There were cameras rolling..."

"Ah, so I wondered which big celebrity was touring today, turns out it’s Director Thorne, the super superstar..."

Sienna laughed heartily, and the two shared a playful banter all the way to the car.
