Chapter 1057: Something Lost

Chapter 1057: Something Lost

Stella Charlie froze, looking somewhat reservedly at Vincent Warner.Vincent Warner calmly drove the car, looking ahead and asked, "Are you getting used to it?"

Stella Charlie: "...Mm."

Vincent Warner: "Looks quite tough. Do you plan to keep doing this in the future?"

Stella Charlie turned her head to look out of the window, answering softly, "I’ll do it for now, and see later."

Vincent Warner nodded and asked again, "Is the money enough? Shall I transfer some to you?"

"No need." Stella Charlie refused flatly, "Thank you, I have enough, I’ll get my salary settled by the end of the month."

"Haven’t you noticed you lost something?" Vincent Warner changed the topic.

Stella Charlie was momentarily confused, looked around, and her gaze landed on a paper bag beside the seat.

Vincent Warner smiled at her through the rearview mirror and said softly, "Open it and see."

Stella Charlie tentatively reached out to take the bag over. Seeing the familiar admission letter inside, she suddenly froze.

Carefully, she took out the letter, recalling the joy when she first received it, and linking it to her current situation, her heart turned sour.

It wasn’t that she hadn’t noticed her admission letter was gone, but she knew she had no chance to go to school, so she hadn’t even tried to look for it.

"It got wet on the rainy day, but fortunately, the inside wasn’t damaged."

Stella Charlie lowered her eyes and put the letter back in the pocket, without saying much to Vincent Warner, just said: "Thank you."

She turned her head to look out the window and realized they had arrived at her rental housing. She hurriedly said to Vincent Warner, "I’m here, please stop by the roadside."

Vincent Warner slowed down, glanced at the slightly run-down streets and housing, his expression somewhat complex.

As Stella Charlie pushed the door to get out of the car, she belatedly asked, "How did you know I live here?"

Vincent Warner explained plainly, "The bus stop you were waiting at only has Route 17, so I drove along Route 17."

Stella Charlie came to an understanding, pushed the car door open and got out, "Thank you, sorry for the trouble."

As soon as she closed the car door, she saw Vincent Warner also getting out of the car.

Stella Charlie stopped and looked at Vincent Warner slightly puzzled, thinking he had something else to say.

But Vincent Warner just locked the car door and walked to her side, asking her, "Where do you live? Is it convenient for me to go in and have a seat?"

Stella Charlie thought about that small, shabby room, looking at Vincent Warner’s expensive suit and the luxurious car behind him.

She awkwardly clutched the strap of her backpack tightly, somewhat embarrassedly said, "...The rented room is very small, it might not be convenient."

"Then I’ll walk you downstairs and leave."

Stella Charlie hurriedly refused, "No need, just go into this small alley, and you’ll be there. You should head back early."

Vincent Warner looked in the direction she pointed, it was a dirty, rundown alley with dim lighting.

He said nothing, just took the lead walking that way, "Let’s go."

Stella Charlie stood hesitantly but then followed him.

Stella Charlie lowered her head looking at the dirty ground beneath her feet, and then dropped her gaze to Vincent Warner’s shiny leather shoes.

Walking on such a path would surely dirty his shoes.

But Vincent Warner didn’t show any sign of disgust the entire time, stopped at a forked road, and asked Stella Charlie: "Which way?"

Stella Charlie pointed at the stairway leading underground, softly replied, "Here."

Vincent Warner was slightly stunned, then lifted his foot and walked down the concrete stairs leading underground.
